Finished reading "The Lost Symbol" of Dan Brown.
Another Dan Brown masterpiece.
Loved every word of it :)

Started reading..............................................................................................................................................................................."Ponniyin Selvan" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Legendary work of Kalki, but in e-book format.
Planning to get the hardcopy from my friend and read.
Reading an e-book is nothing compared to having the book in ur hand and turning the pages! :(

Reading: The Leader Who Had No Title - Robin Sharma

Started reading the book after finishing off ARR's life history in Thamizh. My first read of Robin Sharma. Bought his The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari long back, but, well, its with a friend. :)

Not very interesting yet, coz so far only speed reg leadership is running. Not even half through the book to comment about it.

Expecting it to be good as it goes.

ARR's CWG Anthem

"Why waste money again? Make someone else sing."

"Even if Rahman gives me a part of his pay, I will not listen the song. Its dreadful."

These were very famous lines repeated again and again a few weeks back in Headline Today, when they started asking people's comments on ARR's CWG Anthem.

Brought lots of laughter to me! I never knew the aam admi could be such a great comedian himself. Always he used to be the victim of comedies. ;)

In a nutshell, people were more concerned about Rahman's pay than the Anthem. Everyone compared it with Wakka Wakka, quoting its nowhere comparable to it :D

HT really is a great business machine. They created a havoc out of nothing and pumped up their TRP rating, trying to draw harsh critics on ARR. Hats off to their cunning idea. But that half or an hour program was nothing more than that.

I loved the CWG Anthem.

P.S: Just while trying to find a vdo to link with my post, read that the Anthem is being re-worked. Am eager to see the difference.

Book: Jai Ho! A R Rahman Vaazhkkai varalaru by Sokkan

Finished the inspiring and interesting life history of AR Rahman by Sokkan (Kizhakku Pathippagam, my fav). Loved reading every single line though most of the details are very well known to me. Taken by surprise by many of the facts provided by the author. Especially by the new that ARR has done so many jingles and was in advertising for around 5 years!

Leo Coffee ad has always been my fav, now wanna collect all his jingles starting from Pavan Photo Studio. :)

An awesome experience in having read about the life of one of the most successful Indian of my time. :)

P.S: Was really surprised after reading that 'Thanga Thamarai Magale' brought SPB his first National Award for a Tamil Song! Shame to call myself an ardent SPB devotee. :(

Ethnic Day at office - 13 Aug

On the 13th of Aug we celebrated Ethnic Day at our office on the view of Independence Day.
As I already had buzzed, we all wore ethnic dresses and ate Pizza :P

Being a very prompt follower of principles, I was in pukka ethnic wear.

Acc to me, I wore Saffron (Sree Chooranam) in my forehead, White Shirt and a Dhoti with green border with my ID tag being Blue Color. I imagined myself as a mark of our National Flag. :P

But to one of my teammate, it has meant completely something else :(

Rev: Dork (The Incredible Adventures of Robin Einstein Verghese)

Finished reading Dork by Sidin Vadukut. A hilarious comedy. Seriously funny. The author had had a very clear idea on what are all the worst things a 'HERO' could face in his life and complied them up in the form of a book.

As usual, its seriously funny to read about the bad things happening in someone's life. :P

Enjoyed reading the book. But would not suggest it as a must read to everyone, though.

Rev: A New World by Amit Chaudhury

May be I am not the kind of reader the author was expecting. I expected more story, more drama, more life. But the author seemed to be interested only in the scorching heat of Calcutta and few residents of that 15 year old apartment, its lifts, Dr Sen, Mrs Gupta, etc. To me the book seemed completely lifeless.

I never comment on a book without reading it completely. That is the only reason that helped me to finish this book. The author has explained every minute detail with great care, but I do not find any requirement for a big book for all those writings.

May be its the style of writing a 'very good' book. May be I am not good enough to understand or enjoy such a work. Because I had found less enjoyment in many other 'Booker Prize' winning works too. They just give you too many pages to explanation of very trivial details. I had read three 'Booker Prize' winning Indian author books viz. God of Small Things by Arundhathi Roy, The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga and Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai. (I havent completed the last mentioned book yet, trying hard to be able to read it to the end). All my friends who used to take the books from me once I had finished them, refused to touch those mentioned books or started scolding me for giving them such books!

I appreciate the fact that the author is able to feel the intricate enjoyment in all those trivial things, yet a book full of such nonsense is no way near literature according to me. :(
